INTRODUCTION
Memory, all alone in the moonlight. I can smile at the old days; it was beautiful then. I remember the time I knew what happiness was. Let the memories live again.
This Booklet is the 2nd one of two that I have produced about the history of the Lawlor Family. As the 1st Booklet dealt with our history in Ireland this edition deals mainly with our history in England during the time we lived at various addresses in Manchester in the areas of Chorlton-On-Medlock, Moss Side and Hulme. It has been produced as a result of my desire and quest to continue to record and sustain our family history and heritage for posterity and to hopefully encourage and maintain family bonds.
What started as a small hobby activity, turned into a time consuming, but pleasant, and interesting undertaking. Through the research that I and other members of my family have done, I have been fascinated with every new piece of information and discovery about our family’s history, the joys, hardships and the tragic events and traumas that our ancestors endured, reading about them has had a profound effect on me that lingers even today. Like millions of other Irish people, over time, especially since the time of the great famine in Ireland we have become a scattered Clan, with roots that grew from a tiny beautiful Island and are now firmly established in various parts of the world, especially England, America, and Australia
Jason, Anthony, my two precious sons are the main reasons why I undertook this task in the first place which has been on-going on and off for over ten years, but in truth it was for me also personally, and all other members of my family immediate and extended who share our ancestry and who have an interest in our Celtic history and heritage.
I have put forward my memories as I remember them as accurately and as truthfully as I could, to hopefully serve as a legacy for future generations, offering them a window into worlds they otherwise they would never know.
Finally, I would like to say thanks again for the help I received from Manchester Central Library, Local History Department, without their help and kindness the booklets could not have been produced.
