Our Ancestral Home On New Street, Virginia
These photographs are of New Street, Virginia. The images are of great significance to myself and the Lawlor family, because they show where our ancestors lived in the town of Virginia. They lived in the primitive dwellings shown in the two photographs below which were located behind what used to be McDonnell's Bar, which is now the Ramor Lodge, Hotel. Fortunately I took the photographs while on holiday in 1992, because shortly afterwards the owner of the hotel demolished them to create more parking spaces.
These images show the lovely stone dwellings which are still in existence and being lived in today. The elderly gentleman with me in the bottom middle photograph is Phil Smith at age 83. Bottom right is a rare photograph of Tom Clancy, with both Phil, and Josie Smith. They were all very good friends of Mam & Dad as were most of the other residents who lived on New Street.
New Street leads down to Lough Ramor and Virginia Park, which is a good spot for fishing!
